Διαβάσαμε και σας προτείνουμε:"πού 'ναι η μάνα σου μωρή;", Δήμητρα Σωτήρη ΠετρούλαΤο βιβλίο μου πίστευα πως ήθελα να το γράψω για πολλούς λόγους: Σαν μνημόσυνο για τους σκοτωμένους μου, σαν σιωπηλό μοιρολόι, σαν κλάμα που στάλαζε γραμμή από την ψυχή μου, σαν ξέσπασμα στο παράπονο γιατί αναγκάστηκα να περάσω τόσο φοβερά παιδικά χρόνια και να ζήσω τρέχοντας κι όχι αργά και φυσιολογικά. Σαν απαίτηση στα κόμματα της Αριστεράς για ενότητα. Σαν παράκληση στους ανθρώπους της προόδου, ώστε να κάνουν το παν για να μην έρχονται ποτέ και πουθενά τέτοια φοβερά χρόνια. Σαν γέλιο πικρό κι ειρωνικό στους θύτες, όταν και όποτε προσπαθούνε και αποτολμούνε να βγούνε θύματα.
Τελικά, πίστεψα πως είχα υποχρέωση να το γράψω σαν ελάχιστη ανταπόδοση στην πολύτιμη και συνάμα βαριά κληρονομιά που μου αφήσανε οι σκοτωμένοι μου γονείς και τ' αδέρφια μου. Τη ζωή τους τη χαρίσανε όπου εκείνοι πιστεύανε πως έπρεπε. Αδιαφιλονίκητο δικαίωμά τους. Σε μένα όμως, είτε το 'θελα είτε όχι, αφήσανε το σκοτωμό τους. Έτσι αποφάσισα να γράψω ρωτώντας κι όλους όσους δεχτήκανε και δέχονται την ίδια με μένα κληρονομιά, όπου κι αν βρίσκονται, είτε στην πατρίδα μου, είτε στη Χιλή, είτε στη Νικαράγουα, είτε στο Λίβανο, είτε στην Αφρική, ή όπου αλλού. Τι θα την κάνουμε αυτή μας τη βαριά κληρονομιά; Μέτρο να μετράμε το μίσος, αίμα να ποτίζουμε την εκδίκηση, ή μαχητή ακούραστο και φύλακα ακοίμητο της Ειρήνης;

...είναι από τα βιβλία εκείνα που τα διαβάζεις σε εκείνη την περίεργη ηλικία της εφηβείας και σε ακολουθούν για μια ζωή. Άκρως ρεαλιστικό, σε μεταφέρει σε μια εποχή που τα γεγονότα της καθόρισαν και τη δικιά μας γενιά....

Παρακάτω υπάρχει ένα απόσπασμα από την αρχή του βιβλίου:
«Πού 'ναι η μάνα σου, μωρή;»
Μέσα στην παγωνιά του πρωινού, ήτανε 20 του Γενάρη του 1946, πρέπει να 'τανε μέρα Κυριακή, γιατί η μάνα μου επέμενε να μου φορέσει τα τσαρουχάκια μου. Αυτή η ερώτηση με τσουρούφλισε κυριολεχτικά. Ίσως και να κατουρήθηκα απ' το φόβο μου στο άκουσμα αυτής της φωνής, που δε ρώταγε, αλλά έγδερνε όλο μου το κορμί. Θα 'μουνα, δε θα 'μουνα τριάμισι χρονών. Είχα κάτσει ανακούρκουδα πάνω στο χώμα μπροστά απ' το σπίτι μας. Η μάνα μου είχε σαρώσει πρωί πρωί με την αφάνα, πριν βγω να παίξω. Κι έτσι το χώμα ήτανε ίσιο και μπορούσα με το δάχτυλο να χαράξω σπιτάκια κι ό,τι άλλο μου κατέβαινε.
Αυτό το ίσιωμα μπροστά απ' το σπίτι μας δε μου πολυάρεσε. Όσες φορές τις νύχτες ήθελα «τίθα» μου, εκεί με πήγαινε η μάνα μου. Θα προτιμούσα να κάνω «τίθα» στο κρεβάτι μου, που ήτανε πολύ ζεστό· αλλά εκείνη επέμενε να με κουβαλάει αγκαλιά έξω και να στέκεται πίσω μου. Κι εγώ ακούγοντας κάτι περίεργους θόρυβους μέσα στη νύχτα τηνε ρώταγα τι ήτανε. Δεν ξέρω γιατί, πίστευα πως ήτανε τατάρισμα πολυβόλου. Μου 'λεγε, όμως, πως ήτανε τριζόνια κάπου ανάμεσα στα δέντρα.

ΠΑΓΚΟΣΜΙΑ ΗΜΕΡΑ ΚΑΤΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΟΝΟΣΙΑΣ - 25 ΑΠΡΙΛΙΟΥ 2010
Την Κυριακή 25 Απριλίου, Παγκόσμια Ημέρα κατά της Ελονοσίας 2010, θα απομένουν μόνο 250 ημέρες για την επίτευξη του στόχου που έθεσε ο Γενικός Γραμματέας των Ηνωμένων Εθνών ώστε όλες οι ενδημικές στην ελονοσία χώρες να επιτύχουν καθολική κάλυψη με βασικές παρεμβάσεις ελέγχου της ελονοσίας μέχρι τις 31 Δεκεμβρίου του 2010.Είναι απαράδεκτο να εξακολουθούν να πεθαίνουν κάθε χρόνο περίπου 850.000 άνθρωποι από το τσίμπημα ενός κουνουπιού. Από εκείνους που πεθαίνουν από ελονοσία κάθε χρόνο, σχεδόν το 90% ζουν στην υποσαχάρια Αφρική και στην πλειοψηφία τους είναι παιδιά κάτω των 5 ετών. Αυτό είναι ακόμα πιο απαράδεκτο.Ο στόχος είναι επιτεύξιμος και έχει γίνει πραγματική πρόοδος. Υπήρξε σημαντική αύξηση στην κάλυψη με εμποτισμένες με εντομοκτόνο κουνουπιέρες σε αρκετές Αφρικανικές χώρες, που οφείλεται κυρίως σε εκτεταμένες εθνικές εκστρατείες διανομής με έμφαση να προσεγγιστούν όσοι διατρέχουν το μεγαλύτερο κίνδυνο από την ελονοσία: οι φτωχοί και αγροτικοί πληθυσμοί.Η διπλή προσέγγιση στη μάχη ενάντια στην ελονοσία - από την καλύτερη κάλυψη με κουνουπιέρες μέχρι την αυξημένη χρήση θεραπειών βασισμένων στην αρτεμισινίνη για την περίθαλψη των ασθενών - είναι αυτό που χρειάζεται για να βοηθήσουμε να σωθούν εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες ζωές.Ισχυρές συνεργασίες μεταξύ κρατών, δωρητών, διεθνών οργανισμών, του ιδιωτικού τομέα, της κοινωνίας των πολιτών και θρησκευτικών οργανισμών, έχουν οδηγήσει στις μεγάλες επιτυχίες για την καταπολέμηση της ασθένειας και αυτό πρέπει να συνεχισθεί.Η καταπολέμηση της ελονοσίας επιφέρει και άλλα οφέλη:Μειώνει το φόρτο εργασίας στα ήδη επιβαρυμένα κέντρα υγείας. Μειώνει τον αριθμό των ανθρώπων που πεθαίνουν εξαιτίας του AIDS καθώς η ελονοσία συντελεί σημαντικά σε αυτούς τους θανάτους. Μειώνει τον αριθμό των ανθρώπων που πεθαίνουν εξαιτίας του υποσιτισμού καθώς όντας εξασθενισμένοι από την έλλειψη τροφής, είναι περισσότερο πιθανό να πεθάνουν αν προσβληθούν από ελονοσία. Βελτιώνει την υγεία των εγκύων γυναικών και ως εκ τούτου βελτιώνει την υγεία των βρεφών τους. Η μάχη ενάντια στην ελονοσία μπορεί να κερδηθεί και τώρα ο κόσμος πρέπει να ενωθεί ώστε να εξασφαλίσει ότι κανένας δεν θα πεθαίνει από το τσίμπημα ενός κουνουπιού.Με την ευκαιρία της Παγκόσμιας Ημέρας κατά της Ελονοσίας 2010 δόθηκε στη δημοσιότητα έκθεση για τις προόδους που έχουν γίνει για την καταπολέμηση της νόσου στην Αφρική, που έγινε από τη UNICEF για λογαριασμό της Συμμαχίας για την Καταπολέμηση της Ελονοσίας.Στην έκθεση επισημαίνεται πως την περίοδο 2004-2009 υπήρξε δεκαπλασιασμός της παγκόσμιας χρηματοδότησης κατά της ελονοσίας που έφθασε τα 1,8 δισεκατομμύρια δολάρια το 2009, πενταπλασιασμός της παγκόσμιας παραγωγής εντομοκτόνων κουνουπιέρων που έφθασαν στα 150 εκατομμύρια το χρόνο και αύξηση στο 30κονταπλάσιο στην παροχή θεραπευτικής αγωγής βασισμένης στην αρτεμισινίνη που έφθασε τα 160 εκατομμύρια δόσεις το 2009.Η UNICEF είναι για περισσότερο από 60 χρόνια η κορυφαία οργάνωση στον κόσμο που φροντίζει για την υγεία, την εκπαίδευση, τη διατροφή και την προστασία εκατομμυρίων παιδιών σε όλο τον κόσμο. Το έργο της στηρίζεται αποκλειστικά και μόνο σε εθελοντικές προσφορές.

Aristotle and the EU-IMF bailout
When it comes to the "Λερναία ύδρα" της εθνικής μας αποδόµησης
(Sarantopoulos) and to ‘their’ σχέδιο χρεοκοπίας (Kassios and Billis:
http://www.politis-gr.com/?p=1381), so that Greece has no choice but to ask
for the EU-IMF bailout
(http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100423/ap_on_bi_ge/eu_greece_financial_crisis),
perhaps it is high time for us Greeks to go back to our Aristotle.
Aristotle’s ideas of chrematistike and oikonomia allow looking at the
relationship between business and society and drawing important conclusions
for business and country management.

The rules of sheer money-making (chrematistike), Aristotle found simply too
‘‘tiresome to dwell upon (…) at greater length’’ (Pol, 2007, I, 11, 1258b,
34) for a philosophical mind. His interest, instead, was with what
rightfully should be considered economics (oikonomia): the concern for
morally adequate individual and public household management (Pol, 2007, IX,
1, 1256b, 40–41). The way in which Aristotle deals with economic affairs
undercuts the modern separation of economics from ethics and all other
concerns of life.

Aristotle’s distinction between chrematistike and oikonomia is central to
contemporary questions of business and economics (Dierksmeier and Pirson
2009). But let our Aristotle himself illustrate his differentiation between
the right and the wrong kind of economic practice:

Of the art of acquisition then there is one kind which by nature is a part
of the management of a household, in so far as the art of household
management must either find ready to hand, or itself provide, such things
necessary to life, and useful for the community of the family or state (…).
They are the elements of true riches; for the amount of property which is
needed for a good life is not unlimited (…). But there is a boundary fixed,
just as there is in the other arts (…). (Pol, 2007, I, 8, 1256b, 27–34).

Money-making, or wealth-getting (chrematistike) are here still integrated
into a purpose-bound and socially embedded household-economy (oikonomia).
Yet they can also be torn apart from this context and turn into a boundless
pursuit of profit. There is another variety of the art of acquisition which
is commonly and rightly called an art of wealth-getting, and has in fact
suggested the notion that riches and property have no limit. Being nearly
connected with the preceding, it is often identified with it. But though
they are not very different, neither are they the same. (Pol, I, 9, 1256b,
40–42); ‘‘(…) in this art of wealth-getting there is no limit of the end,
which is riches of the spurious kind, and the acquisition of
wealth.’’ (Pol, 2007, I, 9, 1257b, 28).

Aristotle is fully aware that the unaccustomed eye, when looking at
business transactions (chrematistike), cannot always easily make out which
is which: ‘‘natural’’ versus ‘‘unnatural’’ chrematistike, in Aristotle’s
terms; we might speak of an ‘‘embedded’’ versus ‘‘disembedded’’ pursuit of
wealth. Since from the outside we cannot always assess correctly (moral or
immoral, ‘‘natural’’ or ‘‘unnatural’’) end a given transaction serves,
self-regulation becomes all the more important.

Legislation alone is futile when decision makers on all other levels do not
concur and reign in their chrematistic impulses in favor of genuinely
oikonomic goals. The source of the confusion is the near connection between
the two kinds of wealth-getting; in either, the instrument is the same,
although the use is different, and so they pass into one another; for each
is a use of the same property, but with a difference: accumulation is the
end in the one case, but there is a further end in the other. Hence some
persons are led to believe that getting wealth is the object of household
management, and the whole idea of their lives is that they ought to
increase their money without limit …. (Pol, 2007, I, 9, 1257b, 31–1258a,
5).
For Aristotle, in the proper management of the economy at large and with
regard to single households, everything hinges on the distinction between
oikonomia and chrematistike. It is what makes or breaks individual
well-being, the wealth of households, and the welfare of the state, our
state.

μπερλουσκονοειδές και άφιξη αμερικανικών ή και γερμανικών εταιρειών
εξόρυξης του φυσικού μας πλούτου (PILIOUNIS-ATLASCOM).
The first natural question that comes to mind is whether anyone within the
300 puppets of our κομματική πολυαρχική δικτατορία των ΠΑΣΟΚ, ΝΔ, ΚΚΕ, ΛΑΟΣ
και ΣΥΡΙΖΑ has ever read Aristotle. The natural next question is: are they
Greek enough to care? Are they allowed by ‘their’ global polyarchy masters
either to care for Greece or to be Greek? If not, then why do we keep them?
Both our chrematistike and our oikonomia seem to indicate that we do not;
yes?

Θέμα: Χωρίς...περίσκεψη.
Οι μάζες εκλέγουν -κάποτε- εξουσίες χωρίς περίσκεψη.Αυτό (σε καμμιά περίπτωση) δεν σημαίνει πως οι τελευταίοι πρέπει να παρασσύρονται απο την περιρρέουσα ατμόσφαιρα της χαλάρωσης. Αλλά να οργανώνουν και να οριοθετούν τα πλαίσια της ανάπτυξης με μόχθο και περίσκεψη. Κάτι που δεν ζήσαμε τα τελευταία πολλά χρόνια.Δεν βιώσαμε δηλαδή εξουσίες ευθύνης, αλλά διαχειριστές των ευτελέστερων μαζικών απαιτήσεων. Όπου το μόνο που επιτύγχαναν ήταν (και είναι) η εξυπηρέτηση των ολίγων της κεφαλαιουχικής συσσώρευσης. Υπό το πρόσχημα πάντοτε της "διάχυσης" υψηλού βιοτικού επιπέδου στα χαμηλότερα στρώματα. Ένα καλοφιαγμένο δηλαδή άλλοθι.

Starve the beast and join the Global Tax Revolt! Venitist Jonathan Bydlak muses there's a Chinese proverb that says that there are three curses, each one worse than the previous. The first of these curses is: "May you live in interesting times." Well, the times we live in are certainly interesting. We stand at a transformative moment in history, at the front lines of what can only be called a revolution in thought. We are venitists, like millions all over the world, in cities all across the globe, to exercise our basic right as citizens, as a free people in a free world. We tell our government one thing: Basil Venitis, twitter.com/Venitis, asserts that when an economy suffers from erectile dysfunction, via-grab does not work, but only via-cut. The via recommended by Venitis is to cut taxes, not grab more taxes. There are limits to how much government can tax before it kills the host. Even worse, when government attempts to subsidize prices, it has the net effect of inflating them instead. The economic reality is that you cannot distort natural market pressures without unintended consequences. Market forces would drive prices down. Government meddling negates these pressures, adds regulatory compliance costs and layers of bureaucracy, and in the end, drives prices up. I pledge to fight every day for venitism. I embrace peace and reject violence to achieve venitism. I demand infinitesimal government, free markets, and individual liberty in my country. I will keep my children free by ending programs that put them in debt. I refuse to grab the product of others.I accept spirituality, but not religion.I will provide charity only when I choose. I will avoid and evade taxes, especially VAT, as much as possible.I will work to elect venitists who will dratically cut spending and taxes. I will hold the government accountable to the constitution through action in the courts. I will pass the venitist spirit to future generations. We stand with a crisis of creativity in our country. We look around and see problem after problem: Poverty. Millions unable to get health care. People out of work. It's easy for all of us, no matter what our political views may be, to agree on what the problems are. But though we all see these problems, for too long, we have seen just one solution, let the government do it. It's their job. It's their responsibility. Well, the second Chinese curse is this: May you come to the attention of those in authority. Well, Bydlak notes, we've definitely been getting attention from those in power. We are citizens today living under a government that doesn't represent us, its people. And we have made the decision, together, that we can no longer refuse to take action. And for that, we are drawing much attention. Thirty-two years ago, something remarkable happened in the state of California. In 1978, Californians stood up passed Proposition 13 overwhelmingly, a law hated so strongly by the political class, because it, of all things, made it more difficult for politicians to raise taxes. But that's not why Prop 13 was important. No, it was important for what it started, for what it signified. 43 states followed by passing some form of a tax limitation. In the late 70s, Americans realized that they'd been taxed too much for too long, and that it was time to do something about it. But today the problem we face, the problem that is drawing us attention, is not our dislike of taxes. It is our solemn and firm rejection of completely out-of-control spending by politicians. You know, to go off on a tangent for a second, Rodney Dangerfield once had a great line in Back to School that said, "You've always got to look out for #1, because if you don't, you'll end up stepping in #2." Well, pardon the analogy, but for too long, our elected officials have not been looking out for us, for the citizens who should be #1. And worst of all, they haven't just mistakenly stepped in some #2, they've thrown us into a $16 trillion dollar pile of it. And that brings Bydlak to the third Chinese curse: May you find what you are looking for. For too long, those who wanted big runaway government have gotten what they wanted. We have a Democratically-controlled Congress this year that passed a new trillion dollar health care entitlement, all the while ignoring overwhelming public opposition. But why should we be shocked when just 7 years ago, a Republican-controlled Congress passed a new half-trillion prescription drug plan that nobody wanted? We have a Congress today that raises the federal debt ceiling whenever it bumps up against that ceiling. But why should we be taken aback considering that Republicans raised that ceiling again and again when it was politically convenient to do so? It's pretty sad when those in Congress don't even know what the word ceiling means, isn't it? We have President Obama borrowing, printing and spending more than any president in history, in the supposed name of job creation. But why should we be surprised when his Republican predecessor did the exact same thing? We have a president now who wastes trillions of dollars overseas in multiple endless wars, sacrificing American lives, destroying our civil liberties at home, and shredding our Constitution into millions of tiny bits. But why should we be surprised to see him merely continuing and expanding the policies initiated by George Bush? And then, of course, we have the worst example of all, an example of government so out of control, an example so galling that it deserves special scorn, all its own. And this time Bydlak is talking about the bailouts. A tag-team effort, foisted upon us by our last two presidents, a scheme that took hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, ignored the public outcry of those taxpayers, and then handed that money to the well-connected friends of unelected treasury secretaries and government officials, so that Wall Street millionaire bankers could keep making campaign contributions to both parties. The truth is, we only really have one party with two competing factions: the "spend money over here" party, and the "spend money over there" party. But what we realize today is that low taxes are not enough. Low taxes mean nothing if we don't reduce spending as well. And fortunately for our future generations, more and more Americans are realizing this as well. They're realizing that the reckless spending of taxpayer money, our money, is just the beginning. Our government hasn't just been eroding away our pocketbooks, but also the basic liberties that have for so long characterized our free society. But we cannot, we must not, let lawmakers keep grabbing this power, the power to "solve" problems that they themselves created. This may come as a surprise to some in Washington, but you know, you can't run massive government programs like Medicare and Medicaid and the FDA and the medical boards, and many, many others and then say "the free market doesn't work in health care, so we'll run it, instead." You can't put up roadblocks to interstate competition between insurance companies and then say "we need a government option because insurers don't have enough competition." You can't have the Fed and the Treasury and the SEC and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the FDIC and then say "we need to regulate financial instruments because the free market is failing." No. We live in a world where the easiest way for a federal agency to get more funding is to fail at what it does, and the easiest way for Congress and the President to grab more power is to create a problem. This has got to stop, and it's got to stop now. Because if it doesn't stop, then as the Chinese curse suggests, we'll find what we're looking for. So the next time there's a Democrat who wants to spend money on a new health insurance bureaucracy, or a Republican who wants to spend on a new prescription drug entitlement, or a Democrat who wants to spend money on a supposed peace-keeping mission in Somalia, or a Republican who wants to spend money on war in Iraq, no matter what it is, and no matter how much you think it might be a good idea, you, me, all of us need to ask the question: Where is this money coming from? We cannot let bad policies be ignored anymore. Every time we let the government reach into yet another part of our lives, there's only less freedom left for us. So do not let public debate be drowned out by those who shout "obstructionist!" every time someone opposes your ideas. Those of us opposed to bad laws aren't obstructionists. We are citizens, with ideas we care passionately about. And we demand to be free and responsible for ourselves. We don't want handouts; we don't want special advantages, whether those are farm subsidies or social safety nets. We want a government that acts in accordance with the people, not in defiance of them. A government that does not trod about on our basic liberties, the economy, or our livelihood. It's your venitist duty to avoid and evade taxes all the way! Venitis points out that tax competition between jurisdictions holds down the cancer of government, and all people experience more opportunities and more wealth. If businesses and individuals are discouraged from investing outside their own jurisdictions, they will simply choose to work less and take no major business risks. All antivenitist governments are corrupt, and without the last bastions of freedom, aka taxhavens, enforcing financial privacy, citizens would have no place to protect their financial assets from kleptocrats, kidnappers, extortionists, blackmailers, and thugs. Evade taxes now as much as you can! Starve the beast by fighting taxes.Bydlak asserts that we must make runaway government spending a political curse on those who support it, before it becomes a curse on us financially. We must make our will known; we must ensure that our demand for a government of the people, by the people, for the people remains forever a reality, and not just an idea. We need venitism now!
